Eagles Have Noteworthy No-Show To Start OTAs

One would think that, after a dismal first season with the Philadelphia Eagles, that edge rusher Bryce Huff would be interested in doing everything he could to prove his worth at the start of his second season in Midnight Green.

That doesn't appear to be the case, though.

As the Eagles opened up OTA practices Wednesday in front of reporters, there was one glaring absence.

Bryce Huff.

After a season in which he recorded just a single sack while battling injuries and ineffective play, some of Philadelphia's highest individual staff members believes he could still turn his career around.

“I think the story is yet to be written on Bryce,” general manager Howie Roseman said in February. “Now, I’m stubborn, I understand that. I’m stubborn on a lot of things.”

Roseman's words are one thing. His actions are something else. The fact that Huff was not at OTA s could be a sign that the Eagles are looking to make a move away from the former 10-sack edge rusher of the New York Jets.

They would have to wait until after June 1st for that to happen.

It is true that OTAs at this time are strictly voluntary. Huff could have a legitimate excuse as to why he wasn't at practice on Wednesday.

But optics matter. Especially in Philadelphia. And his absence is the most noteworthy news coming from the NovaCare Complex today. It adds a wrinkle of confusion and circus-like feel to the team's practice schedule.

And it may be a sign that he's heading out the door once and for all.
