The attacker has Premier League experience and is touted to leave his club this summer transfer window.
He is set to undergo a medical, and after a season where he scored 15 Premier League goals, he could provide some much-needed firepower up top. However, United need more goals after Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggled up front last season.
Manchester United keen to sign Ademola Lookman
Arsenal are another Premier League team looking to add more firepower in attack. One name that the Gunners have been linked with is Atalanta attacker Ademola Lookman, who has excelled in the Serie A this season. According to Caught Offside, Man United are within a group of PL teams to hold an interest in Lookman, with the report saying that Nottingham Forest and Newcastle are also keen on the Nigerian international.
Juventus, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli and Barcelona are also reportedly in for Lookman, who is one of the most in-demand Serie A player this summer. He made 93 Serie A appearances since moving to Atalanta in 2022, and has managed to score 39 goals and provide 21 assists in that time. The attacker previously played for Everton in the Premier League, but he struggled to find consistent form.
He can play as a striker, or on the wing, meaning that if United were able to land him, they would most likely play him as a number 10, in a similar role to where Cunha would be expected to play when he joins the club.
Ademola Lookman could replace the likely departing Alejandro Garnacho
If Man United were able to land the 24-year-old this summer, he would be the ideal replacement for Alejandro Garnacho, who looks set to leave the club this summer after reports emerged saying that Amorim has told him to find a new team. Garnacho has been linked to both Napoli and Chelsea, with the Serie A side more likely to land the attacker, as it has been said that they would be willing to pay up to £67m to sign the 20-year-old Argentine.
The winger made 36 Premier League appearances this season for United, scoring six goals and providing two assists. After his comments about Amorim leaving him out of the starting XI against Spurs in the Europa League final, it seems that the winger will be playing his football elsewhere next year. Lookman could come in as a replacement for Garnacho. He is expected to cost around £50m, meaning that he would be of similar value, and a sensible replacement, if United can land him ahead of the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle United.
