Detroit Lions cornerback Carlton Davis III (23) forces Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (9) to fumble the ball after this catch, during the Thursday Night Football at Ford Field in Detroit on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024.

The 2022 34th pick joined the team and did light work but this sitll comes as a shock to some fans as he is currently recovering from a torn ACL he suffered late last season.

He is expected to miss most of Packers games but there is a chance he will return earlier than expected.

Head coach Matt LaFleur revealed that Watson has been recovering well.

“Christian is doing outstanding,” he said.

“I would say he’s ahead of schedule, but I’m not a doctor. I’m not medical staff. So we’ll see where he’s at.”

Watson said early this month that he is in a really good spot with his recovery.

“I got a couple more months ahead of me, attacking it every day. I’m in a really good spot. I was raised to be a fighter and to chase after the things that I want,” he said,

That’s what his teammate Jayden Reed sees, too, during the first day of OTA.

“He looked good,” Reed told reporters.

“He looks like he’s getting back a lot faster than he’s supposed to be. So he’s been doing a great job with his treatment, coming in, taking care of his body. Hopefully, he comes back as soon as possible.”

Watson remains in good spirit and while he recovers, the Packers are turning their attention to rookie Matthew Golden who has been receiving mentorships from Reed, Romeo Doubs, and other WRs.
