Nayef Aguerd could be on the way out at West Ham amid a summer revolution.

Graham Potter‘s side are set to be active in the transfer market as the ex-Chelsea manager attempts to improve on a dismal 14th-place finish.

The Irons conceded 62 goals in the Premier League this season and are in desperate need of reinforcements in their backline.

The Moroccan impressed on loan at Real Sociedad this season but the Hammers could cash in this summer as they look to recoup funds.

Aguerd set for West Ham exit as Leverkusen accelerate interest

Aguerd struggled to make an impact at the London Stadium and may not even be given the chance to force his way into Potter’s plans.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

A report from Florian Plettenberg (28 May) claims that Bayer Leverkusen have gathered all the relevant information on a potential transfer for the 29-year-old.

It states that the centre-back is a candidate for a transfer to the 2023-24 Bundesliga champions as they look to strengthen their backline.

West Ham to benefit from Aguerd sale

The Hammers can benefit massively from selling Ageurd to the German outfit.

If they could recoup a similar amount to the £30million that they paid for the former Rennes defender, it would give Potter a major boost in his transfer plans.

The Irons reportedly have to sell to buy if they want to sanction moves for the likes of Caoimhin Kelleher and Taylor Harwood-Bellis due to Profit and Sustainability concerns that are set to hamstring their transfer plans.

The 55-cap international wants to play in the Champions League and the East London outfit need the money, so a deal makes sense for both parties.

There are a few saleable assets in the squad that they could take advantage of such as Guido Rodriguez and Edson Alvarez but the defender is the one that makes the most sense, especially as his career in London has been extremely underwhelming.

Potter needs to ensure that the deadweight is shifted off the books this summer, otherwise, he will be doomed to fail and could be sacked by David Sullivan if he cannot transform the squad and results do not improve.
