Report: Man Utd transfer negotiator holds talks over Rasmus Hojlund sale, 36-goal superstar striker swap move in play

Manchester United are serious about moving on from underperforming striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Over in Malaysia, Rasmus Hojlund turned in another disappointing performance up front in a postseason friendly against the ASEAN All-Stars.

Hojlund struggled all season long, scoring only four Premier League goals.

Manchester United want to sign another striker, and Hojlund is expected to be sold to raise funds for a new forward.

Manchester United hold talks with Napoli

With Hojlund in Malaysia with United, and chief executive Omar Berrada also in attendance on tour, activity over his potential sale has been ongoing.

Italian outlet Il Napolista reports Manchester United transfer negotiator Matt Hargreaves has led a delegation in Naples, to hold talks.

The main topic of discussion is a potential Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli move, with the Serie A club interested in the Denmark forward, who previously played in Italy with Atalanta.

Hargreaves is said to have met with sporting director Giovanni Manna and president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

While Napoli are attempting to finalise a move for free agent striker Jonathan David, a deal for Hojlund is still on the table.

And it could end up being part of a bigger deal.

Victor Osimhen under discussion

According to the report, the topic of a swap deal involving Victor Osimhen and Rasmus Hojlund was discussed.

Osimhen has no future at Napoli, spending the season out on loan at Galatasaray, where he scored 36 goals to lead them to the Turkish Super Lig title.

Napoli are claimed to have told Manchester United the price for Victor Osimhen. It would cost 40 million Euros and Rasmus Hojlund.

To us this sounds like a bargain – but a move is not quite so straightforward.

Osimhen would have high wage demands, set against heavy interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, who could offer him an absolute fortune.

With that in mind, this dream swap deal may not get off the ground, but the fact it is at least being discussed at a high level, offers some real intrigue.
