"My understanding..." - Fabrizio Romano shares late-night update on Liverpool and Milos Kerkez

Liverpool are advancing in talks to sign Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez this summer, Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Reds are pushing to make the Hungary international their new starting left-sided defender next season and are believed to be in club-to-club discussions over his arrival at Anfield.

Kerkez has already agreed personal terms to become a Liverpool player, and Romano expects the deal to progress further in the coming days, as 'the feeling is very positive' about a potential summer move.

The 21-year-old defender reportedly 'can’t wait' to join the Premier League winners in the coming weeks, having been 'really convinced' by Arne Slot’s project for the future.

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that Liverpool have a contract ready for Kerkez to sign, with only the terms of his departure from Bournemouth left to be resolved:

“Who is really appreciated at Liverpool is Milos Kerkez, and I'm insisting on this one, guys, because I expect this deal to advance in the next days, also between clubs.

“Agreement done with the player. The agreement between Liverpool and Kerkez is done. The contract is ready. Everything is okay. The player can't wait to become a Liverpool player.

“The player is really convinced about the Liverpool project. So the feeling is very positive. Liverpool and Bournemouth are discussing, but the understanding is that this deal is advancing behind the scenes.”

Kerkez is likely to arrive at Liverpool as a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson, who has just over 12 months remaining on his contract and turned 31 in March.

The Hungary international has emerged as one of the most promising left-backs in Europe during his time at Bournemouth and was courted by several English clubs this season.

He started every game of the 2024/25 domestic campaign, scoring two goals and providing five assists, and helped the Cherries finish ninth in the Premier League.

Alongside Kerkez, Liverpool are also progressing in talks to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz and his teammate Jeremie Frimpong, who is expected to become the club’s first summer arrival.
