“Had a difficult run at Manchester United” – Tella on Erik ten Hag taking over at Leverkusen

Super Eagles attacker, Nathan Tella, has shared his thoughts on Erik ten Hag's appointment as Bayer Leverkusen manager, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian international noted the Dutchman’s struggles at Manchester United, but expressed excitement about working with him at the Bay Arena.

Speaking to reporters during the 2025 Unity Cup tournament, the Super Eagles winger said he remains optimistic about Ten Hag’s arrival, despite the criticism the former Ajax boss faced in England.

“I try not to pay attention to things on social media, but you know, I could see there was a lot of excitement—and even for myself,” Tella said.

“He’s still a good manager. Of course, he’s had a difficult run at Manchester United, but that doesn’t take away what he did before he came to United, what he did with Ajax. So I’m happy he’s got the opportunity to work with us, and I’ve got the opportunity to work with him. I’m looking forward to it.”
