Manchester United transfer news as Jadon Sancho's future at Chelsea receives fresh decision timeline after Conference League win
Jadon Sancho
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed that a decision will be made on whether Jadon Sancho permanently joins the club or returns to Manchester United soon.
Sancho moved to west London in the summer on loan for the season with the Blues having a view of making the move permanent. As a result of finishing higher than 14th in the Premier League, Chelsea now have an obligation to buy the forward for £25million.
However, it is understood there is a £5m break clause that can be paid to pull out of the deal which would see Sancho return to Old Trafford. If that does happen, it's understood that he won't be reintegrated back into the United squad.
Ahead of Wednesday night's Conference League final with Real Betis, Maresca confirmed a final decision has not been made yet. The Italian did, though, confirm that talks over the former Borussia Dortmund star's future will commence 24-48 hours after the showdown in Poland.
"It's not the moment we have tomorrow, final," Marseca said ahead of the game. "Then in 24 hours, 48 hours, we're going to start to talk about the future."
Against Betis, Sancho came off the bench and scored an impressive goal to help Chelsea win 4-1 to become the first team to win all three of Europe's club competitions. And after the win, Maresca was once again asked about the 25-year-old.
Jadon Sancho
"I said yesterday in the press conference," he explained. "From now on we are going to sit with the club and decide what happens for next year.
"If we finish fourth, it is also because of Jadon, if we win tonight it is also because of Jadon. It is normal in a season to go a little bit up and down, it is part of the game."
