Lakers legend publicly apologizes to OKC Thunder

Lakers legend Magic Johnson issued an apology to the Oklahoma City Thunder for underestimating them and doubting their readiness to compete for a championship.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have a chance to bring the city its first NBA championship after returning to the NBA Finals for the first time in 13 years.

This remarkable achievement by the youngest team in the NBA today, and the second youngest team in the past 70 years to reach the Finals, was unexpected by many before the season began.

Los Angeles Lakers legend and one of the greatest players in history, Magic Johnson, even issued an apology on social media after the Thunder made the Finals.

"I want to apologize to the Oklahoma City Thunder for underestimating them and not thinking they were ready to compete for a Championship," Johnson wrote on X.

In a series of posts, Johnson also congratulated Thunder GM Sam Presti and former Laker Alex Caruso.

"Oklahoma City Thunder’s fan base needs to give their GM Sam Presti a standing ovation for putting together an amazing roster!" Magic stated.

"Congratulations former Laker and NBA champion Alex Caruso who now plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder and is headed to the NBA Finals!" he added.

He also sent a special congratulations to the recipient of the Magic Johnson Western Conference Finals MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

"Congratulations to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for winning the MVP of the Western Conference Finals named after me. What I love about Shai is that he dominates on the court and is humble off the court!"
