Report: There could be another twist with Kevin De Bruyne as Napoli move not as close as…

The future of Kevin De Bruyne is yet to be decided heading into the summer transfer window.

After 10 years with Manchester City, the Belgian’s journey with the Premier League giants will come to an end very soon when his contract expires, after the hierarchy at the English club decided not to offer the 33-year-old a new deal.

This has led to several clubs chasing the signature of the Man City legend, and it was expected that De Bruyne would be joining Napoli ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, but the deal may not be as close as many have been reporting.

Chicago Fire are very keen on signing De Bruyne this summer, but a new report states that the midfielder’s future has yet to be decided, with the possibility of remaining in the Premier League still on the cards.

Kevin De Bruyne has not ruled out Premier League move

Napoli looked certain to be De Bruyne’s next club, and although that may still be the case, the Belgian’s move to Italy is far from a done deal, with The Independent reporting that remaining in the Premier League may still be on the cards for the Man City star.

“Kevin De Bruyne is still deciding on his future, principally between Napoli and Chicago Fire, although has still not ruled out a move to another Premier League club,” Miguel Delaney wrote.

“The 33-year-old had a 25-minute meeting with Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis, but it is understood negotiations are not yet as advanced as have been made out in Italy, with De Laurentiis saying De Bruyne had already bought a villa in the country.

“While Napoli is seen as the likeliest destination from the serious offers so far, De Bruyne is prepared to discuss options. The Belgian would not be against another Premier League or Serie A club.”

It remains to be seen if any other clubs join the race for De Bruyne over the coming weeks, as not many will want to pay big wages to a 33-year-old player.

There are a few options for the midfielder in the Premier League, however, it still remains unlikely that the Belgian superstar will join another English club, given his ties to Man City.

Premier League clubs Kevin De Bruyne could join

When it was initially made clear that De Bruyne would be leaving the Etihad Stadium this summer, Liverpool were one club tipped to sign the Man City star, but that move has been ruled out by many ever since.

It was reported this week that both Aston Villa and West Ham showed an interest in De Bruyne ahead of next season, but without Champions League football, convincing the Belgian to make a move to either club will be a tough ask.

A return to Chelsea may be an outlier if the Blues want to add some experience to their young squad, but other than that, remaining in the Premier League seems difficult for De Bruyne, as Napoli look like the best place for the superstar to write the next chapter of his career.
