Aston Villa are ramping up their quest to sign a new keeper to replace Emi Martinez, Villa News has learned.
The Argentina international is expected to seal a Villa Park exit this summer, amid interest from a number of clubs.
He even appeared to bid farewell to the fans in the Villans’ final home game of the 2024/25 campaign.

It’s understood that an offer north of £33million would be enough to sign the Frenchman (Sacha Tavolieri, 22 May), who won the UNFP Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year award for his exploits in Ligue 1 this past season, to Villa Park.
The Calais-born goalkeeper has been part of the Lille system for over a decade and could finally part ways with the French side this summer.

Aston Villa must be patient with Chevalier
It undoubtedly is going to be difficult to step into the shoes of Martinez, a World Cup winner, who’s been one of the best ever signings for Aston Villa.
He’s been ever so consistent between the sticks since joining from Arsenal and has played a key role in making the Birmingham outfit qualify for the Champions League and going deep into the competition.
Thus, it’s important that Villa and their fans are patient with Chevalier, as at 23, it’s undoubtedly going to be a daunting task for him.
Keepers have taken a few months to adapt to life in the Premier League and under the stewardship of Unai Emery, the Frenchman will have a good system to work under, and hopefully, to succeed and become a mainstay in goal for years to come.
