Two days ago, Kicker reported Bayer Leverkusen have been working on a deal for Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken for four weeks.
The Bundesliga club have appointed Erik ten Hag as their new manager, after Xabi Alonso left them for Real Madrid.
On Wednesday, Sky Deutschland Florian Plettenberg reported the Brentford player is open to join Bayer Leverkusen after they appointed Ten Hag.
Plettenberg took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share the latest on the German club’s pursuit of the 31-year-old.
He claims the stopper has reached a ‘full verbal agreement’ with Bayer Leverkusen, without explaining the details of the contractual agreement.
Ten Hag’s side are in contact with Brentford over finding an agreement and Plettenberg reports the fee would be around €10-14m.
The Sky journalist adds whether Bayer Leverkusen can finalise the operation now depends on ‘how quickly’ the Bees can find a replacement for Flekken. This indicates Thomas Frank’s side are open to letting the goalkeeper leave in the summer window.
Recent claims from the UK have stated Brentford have identified Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher as a target.
Flekken kept eight clean sheets and conceded 59 goals from 39 games for Brentford this season.
