In-demand Wolves loanee just dropped a shock suggestion about his future

Wolves are preparing to welcome Fabio Silva back to the West Midlands following an impressive loan spell in Spain.

Silva triumphed in La Liga during his loan at UD Las Palmas, who were relegated despite the striker’s best efforts.

Gary O’Neil sent the 22-year-old on loan to Las Palmas, and now, the Wolves loanee will return to his parent club with a different face at the helm.

Vitor Pereira will be eager to assess Silva, who is wanted by many clubs in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Fabio Silva hints that he could stay at Wolves

Silva admitted that he regrets joining Wolves as a teenager back in 2020, opening up about the pressure on his price tag at such a young age.

After a series of loan spells, the forward has finally found form over the entirety of a season, enjoying life at Las Palmas to bolster transfer interest.

Though clubs such as Atletico Madrid are interested in Silva, the forward will still procedurally return to Wolves, where he could potentially stay, as the player himself just admitted.

Speaking to the media, as relayed by A Bola, Silva revealed that while he’s not thinking about transfers, he’s sure ‘good things’ will happen, whether it be at Wolves or elsewhere.

“I don’t know, I don’t think that’s something I think about, it’s for my agent and for the people around me,” Silva said of transfer talk.

“It’s not the most important thing; the most important thing for me is the Under-21 National Team.

“The rest, transfers, where I’m going to stay or not, it’s not the most important thing, and if I do things well in the National Team, good things will end up happening, whether it’s at Wolves or any other team.”

Silva made it abundantly clear that his focus is on the upcoming U21 European Championships, where he will represent Portugal alongside Rodrigo Gomes and loanee Carlos Forbs.

Silva staying at Wolves carries a big risk

The U21 Euros could put Silva in the shop window on the back of a tremendous campaign in Spain.

For some, the idea of the 22-year-old redeeming himself at Wolves would be fascinating to see, but the reality might be that the striker is better off developing elsewhere.

Right now, Silva’s value is the highest it has been for some time due to his heroics at Las Palmas yet if the forward returned to Wolves and struggled once more, such momentum would be lost.

There’s a chance that Pereira could be the manager to get the best out of Silva, who will return to Wolves full of confidence, but there’s a risk of a drop in value that the club must carefully consider.

In Spain, the Portuguese striker came to life after a testing few years, giving Wolves and the player himself a decision to make in the summer.
