How Julian Alvarez feels about leaving Atletico Madrid amid Arsenal transfer speculation - Journalist

Julian Alvarez has been strongly linked with a move back to the Premier League and specifically to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Alvarez has interest from Premier League clubs this summer, with the Gunners rumoured to be the team pushing the hardest to land the forward.

Liverpool have also been linked with Alvarez as the Reds search for a new attacker for Arne Slot’s title-winning team.

The 25-year-old’s feelings towards the possibility of leaving Atletico Madrid and making a return to England have now been revealed.

Julian Alvarez is ‘very happy’ at Atletico Madrid despite Arsenal links

Julian Alvarez is understood to be ‘very happy’ at Atletico Madrid and currently has no desire to make a return to the Premier League, according to journalist Charles Watts.

Atletico signed Alvarez for £82m only last summer, and the possibility of him making such a quick departure from the Spanish capital now feels rather unlikely.

The striker enjoyed a solid debut campaign in Spain as he netted 29 goals in 54 matches for Diego Simeone’s team.

Thierry Henry is a big fan of Alvarez, but he might not get his wish of Andrea Berta bringing him to North London.

Speaking about the possibility of Alvarez moving to Arsenal, Watts told his YouTube channel: “Alvarez is really happy by all accounts in Spain.

“I spoke to someone yesterday who knows Atletico very, very well about this, and he was telling me Alvarez is really, really happy in Spain. He doesn’t want to come back to the Premier League.”

Will Arsenal move for Viktor Gyokeres or Benjamin Sesko with Julian Alvarez unavailable?

That now leaves the Gunners with two clear candidates to become the club’s next number nine in Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.

A recent report suggests that Arsenal will sign Gyokeres over Sesko, with Arteta’s side prioritising experience over potential.

Gyokeres, now aged 26, has just scored a remarkable 54 goals in 52 matches for Sporting CP this season, meanwhile, the younger Sesko has netted 21 times in total.

At this stage, it looks clear that Berta and his team will prioritise moving for Gyokeres ahead of any other target.
