Arsenal's season ended in disappointment as they finished the campaign without silverware. The Gunners fell just short on multiple fronts once again in 24/25, finishing runners-up in the Premier League for the second straight season, while they were also knocked out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage.
Many have pointed to their lack of firepower up front as a key reason why they were unable to win a trophy. Arsenal were without a first-team striker for much of the season after Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus suffered serious injuries.
However, Mikel Arteta decided against buying a striker in January, instead opting to use Mikel Merino as a makeshift centre forward, while Leandro Trossard was also used more often in a central role. Ultimately, though, Arsenal were unable to win silverware, with many ruing Arteta's decision not to splash the cash in January.

Thierry Henry believes that Arsenal must sign a striker this summer. Speaking on The Overlap’s Stick to Football with Sky Bet, Henry said: “When you look at the injuries and you look at the players who came, he brought players.
"He got [Raheem] Sterling when everyone wanted a nine. He had time to get a nine, he had time. I’m not the coach, I don’t know the discussion. Everyone has been screaming or a nine, apart from when we win by the way! Because when we beat Real Madrid, we don’t need a nine.
“You do need a nine. I don’t understand the change… people change the way they talk. We need a nine when we’re not scoring and then suddenly we go on a run and nobody mentions that we need a nine. But you need a nine, for me, and a nine. We’re talking about a nine.”

It appears that Arsenal will sign a striker this summer, with many big names linked. Henry has now urged them to sign former Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez, who he described as 'the most complete striker' in the world right now.
When asked which striker could take Arsenal to the Premier League title, Henry replied: “One of my favourite nines out there at the minute is Julian Alvarez.
“We’ve been talking about it: putting pressure on, playing it long, low, whatever you want to do. He played at the Olympic Games, he played the Copa America and I don’t hear him saying he’s tired. The way he plays it, I just like him. But it is possible [that Arsenal can sign him]? I don’t know.”
Alvarez scored 36 times and recorded 19 assists in 103 games at Manchester City. He made an £80m move to Atletico Madrid last summer, scoring 29 times and recording seven assists in his opening campaign with the Spanish club.
