Florian Wirtz’s move to Liverpool has been the transfer story dominating the headlines over the last few weeks.
Bayern Munich and Manchester City were both interested in the midfielder to begin with, but Wirtz decided that his future would be best served at Liverpool.
Liverpool already have Jeremie Frimpong on the verge of being announced, with the Dutchman coming in to be Trent Alexander-Arnold’s long-term replacement.

And, as the days have gone on, the Reds have finally received an update regarding where things stand for Wirtz’s future.
Bayer Leverkusen are putting up a fight about the instalments in the Florian Wirtz transfer
There’s no denying that the money Liverpool will be forking out for the transfer of Wirtz will be a club-record fee.
However, as per a report from Sky journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Bayer Leverkusen are making a deal ‘not easy’ due to the way they want the instalments to be paid.
Despite this small issue, Liverpool’s confidence is ‘increasing’ with Wirtz hoping that the ‘final green light’ can be sanctioned so he can join the Anfield outfit.
Tavolieri rounds off his report by saying every involved party is working on the ‘same line’ with an agreement now just being a ‘matter of time.’

“Talks are still underway about Florian Wirtz with Liverpool’s confidence increasing in order to make it happen around a €150M package,” he wrote.
“Leverkusen not easy with installments but every parties are working on the same line.
“German midfielder’s expecting final green light to jump into a private jet & sign his 5 years deal. Just a matter of time… More to come!”
Florian Wirtz could catapult Liverpool towards a Champions League win next season
Although a new number 10 wasn’t likely high on Slot’s priority list this summer, when a player of Wirtz’s quality becomes available on the market, it’s impossible for Liverpool to turn it down.
Dominik Szoboszlai has done a more than solid job as Liverpool’s attacking midfielder this season, but as was shown in the Reds’ 3-2 defeat against Brighton towards the end of the season, he thrives in a deeper role.
His ability to move the ball forward and find openings for his teammates are second-to-none, and with Wirtz in the squad, he’d be able to fulfil that role perfectly.

Wirtz’s addition would also take some of the strain off of Mohamed Salah and perhaps even provide the Egyptian King with more goals, if that’s even humanly possible.
At the end of the day, the arrival of the German is a major statement of intent from Slot and Richard Hughes, and it’s hard to see how his addition to the squad wouldn’t help catapult the Liverpool manager to his first Champions League title.
