Kenny Pickett seems to take subtle shot at Pittsburgh Steelers

Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett is now with the Cleveland Browns and could have a chance at revenge against his former team.

The Philadelphia Eagles traded him to the Browns, and Pickett has a real chance to be the Week 1 starter in Cleveland. On Wednesday, Pickett appeared to take a subtle jab at the Steelers, his former, stating Philadelphia showed him how it was supposed to be done.

“I’m extremely grateful for my time in Philly,” Pickett said. “I just was shown how it’s supposed to be done, really, from the top down. So you get a chance to see what it’s supposed to look like and how it should look on a day-to-day basis, not just on Sundays. I think that will pay dividends for me in my future.”

Pickett was Jalen Hurts’ backup this year with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024, throwing for 291 yards and two touchdowns in his one start. The Eagles were Pickett’s childhood team growing up, and he got to win a Super Bowl with them. Pickett even entered late in the game when the Eagles were crushing the Kansas City Chiefs.

Over his career, Pickett has played in 30 games, throwing for 4786 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. The Steelers’ first-round pick out of Pitt in the 2022 NFL Draft, Pickett was heralded as a player who could help turn around the franchise after playing next door at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
