Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) is listed as questionable for Game 5 against the Pacers, but he is expected to play in a crucial do-or-die game to extend the series.
The New York Knicks are facing uncertainty ahead of a crucial Game 5 at home against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
New York Knicks / Schedule
With the series on the line and the Pacers leading 3–1, Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns is listed as questionable due to a left knee contusion.
Towns injured his knee late in fourth quarter of 121-130 Game 4 loss at Indiana, when he collided with Pacers forward Aaron Nesmith with just two minutes remaining, appearing to bump knees.
Towns then immediately dropped to the floor, clutching his left knee and writhing in pain. Though he managed to finish the game, his discomfort was evident.
Afterward, Fred Katz of The Athletic reported that Towns was clearly limping and being careful with his knee as he left the locker room postgame.
"Karl-Anthony Towns moving gingerly on his knee when he walked out of the locker room tonight," Katz reported. "Clanked the same knee that had been bothering him for a bit during the fourth quarter."
What’s especially concerning is that the contusion occurred on the same knee in which Towns suffered a torn meniscus during the 2023–24 season.
Despite the scare, signs point toward a possible appearance in Game 5. The fact that he remained in the game after the injury is a positive indication of his availability.
Towns has been a vital contributor in the series, averaging 25.8 points and 11.5 rebounds. His presence will be essential if the Knicks hope to rally and extend their playoff run.
