Milos Kerkez'says yes'to Liverpool transfer after Jeremie Frimpong jets in

Milos Kerkez has given the green light to joining Liverpool as the club looks to tie up its main transfer business early on in the summer.

The Hungarian emerged as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League during the 2024-25 campaign, and has been linked with a move to Anfield since last year.

Andy Robertson has endured a difficult season on an individual level and is likely to occupy a back-up role next term, while Kostas Tsimikas could leave Anfield to make way for Kerkez.

Kerkez has told Liverpool that he wants to join the club, and personal terms are not expected to be an issue. Seemingly the only thing that needs to be sorted now is an agreement over a fee between Liverpool and Bournemouth.

The 21-year-old is one of several players that Liverpool is working on deals for, with Bayer Leverkusen pair Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz two more players who are expected to move to Anfield.

The deal for Frimpong is at an advanced stage after he touched down in the UK on Tuesday ahead of finalizing his move to Liverpool. Liverpool bid farewell to Trent Alexander-Arnold last weekend, and his departure makes room in the squad for Frimpong, who has emerged as one of the most exciting right-sided players in world soccer in recent years.

Frimpong will become part of an already-strong Dutch contingent in the Reds' squad, alongside Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Cody Gakpo. Head coach Arne Slot is also Dutch.

Slot was asked about Liverpool's interest in Frimpong during a press conference on May 16, but refused to comment on the speculation.

"It's going to be a boring answer," Slot responded. "For the whole season it was about contract extensions. And now we are arriving in a time where everybody wants to know which players we're going to bring in.

"We don't talk about the players we want to bring in, in public, until the moment they've signed for us. We already have Conor Bradley adnd Joe Gomez (who can play at right-back), so it's not like when Trent is leaving I have no clue what to do anymore, but as a club, we are always looking at interesting players that can strengthen our squad. That's the general answer, I'm not talking about individuals."

Liverpool is also believed to be closing in on a deal to sign Frimpong's Leverkusen teammate, Florian Wirtz, after edging out Bayern Munich in the race to land the Germany international.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's budget for the aforementioned transfer looks set to be boosted by $7 million after it was reported that Real Madrid is set to pay a significantly higher fee than expected to land Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of the start of the Club World Cup.
