It looks as though Jack Grealish's time at Manchester City is finally up after four years, £100 million and a huge steaming pile of mediocrity, and Newcastle United's name keeps being mentioned as a possible destination.
The England midfielder has rarely, if ever, shown the same levels of promise at Man City that he did at Aston Villa.
Grealish was astonishing at Aston Villa with dazzling close control, blinding pace and an eye for goal. He was so threatening that he quickly became the most fouled player in the Premier League.
Mega-rich Man City threw £100 million at Villa for Grealish, and almost as soon as he pulled on that blue shirt, all of that promise disappeared. There's still a good player in there, there has to be, form is temporary, class is permanent, and all that, but Newcastle fans certainly aren't excited about the idea of signing Grealish.

Jack Grealish needs to get his career back on track
Alan Shearer doesn't see where Jack Grealish fits at Newcastle
Former Toon striker Alan Shearer has added his two pence worth to the debate too, and it seems that Shearer doesn't feel there's a place for Grealish at Newcastle either, as he told Betfair (h/t The Daily Mail).
"I think Jack's best position is coming off the left. That's where we saw the best of him at Aston Villa, and he was best there for Man City.
"That's the position where Newcastle are really strong. They've got [Harvey] Barnes and [Anthony] Gordon for that side, so I'd be surprised if Newcastle were in for him.
"There's no doubt Jack is a talented lad and a really nice guy; he just lost his way at Man City for whatever reason, and whenever that happens, you've just got to get out and play football again.
"It doesn't look as if there is a future for him at Man City. I know the questions Pep has faced towards the end of the season, and I saw his answers.
"He's been as diplomatic as he could be, and don't forget, he's trying to protect the club because they have an asset that they may have to sell, and if Pep says anything negative, then that brings down the asset's price.
"From the outside looking in, it looks as if his future at Man City is done and he has to move on."

Jack Grealish was responsible for Miguel Almiron's best season at Newcastle
Perhaps the best thing Jack Grealish did during his time at Manchester City was to slag off Miguel Almiron as that seemed to give Miggy a kick up the arse that season.
We're sure Grealish can get his career back on track, but we agree with Alan Shearer that it shouldn't be at Newcastle United.
Everton are said to be keen, and I can see him doing well with the Toffees.
