Stoke City 'fielding transfer calls' for midfielder from Premier League and Europe

Stoke City are reportedly fielding transfer calls about England youth midfielder Sol Sidibe.

Sidibe has always been picked out as a player with huge potential and was courted by clubs including Manchester City while he has come through the ranks at Stoke, where his dad Mama is a promotion-winning hero.

Sky Sports now claim clubs are investigating the 18-year-old midfielder's availability this summer, with Sidibe away this week on England under-18s international duty ahead of a return to Clayton Wood for what would be his third pre-season with the senior squad.

On the opening day of the 2023/24 season Sidibe became the club's second youngest player to play in a league match - at the age of 16 years and 176 days - but Alex Neil was then reluctant to accelerate his progress while Stoke were sucked into a battle at the wrong end of the division.

He has then had to prove himself again to Steven Schumacher, Narcis Pelach and Mark Robins in a central position - and he missed the second half of 2024/25 after being diagnosed with a stress fracture in his lower back. He was back fit in the last week of the season and was summoned for England, along with teammate Jaden Dixon.

Sky Sports claim: "Clubs from the Premier League, France, Austria and Germany have approached Stoke City over the signing of Sidibe.

"A back injury ruled him out for the second half of the season after he made 13 appearances in all competitions. He has since returned and started for England under-18s in their victory over Morocco on Sunday.

"Stoke rejected two bids for French-born Sidibe last summer."

Sidibe and Dixon were used as substitutes yesterday as England under-18s signed off their season with a 2-1 defeat to Morocco. The score was already 2-1 when they came on early in the second-half. The Stoke pair both started a 3-1 win over Morocco on Sunday.
