TBR Football understands that Arsenal are fully expecting Myles Lewis-Skelly’s contract to be renewed by the time the new season rolls around.
Andrea Berta has been frantically working to sort the contracts of several key Arsenal players and the Hale End product looks set to be the first of many to sign new deals at the Emirates Stadium. Reports suggest that Thomas Partey’s new deal could be the first to be sorted, given his deal expires in June.
Lewis-Skelly has been ‘amazing’ this season for the Gunners and his rapid progress from squad player to starter has been nothing short of outstanding.
Now, the teenager is set to be rewarded with a new deal, and talks between the player and the North London club are progressing very well.

Myles Lewis-Skelly set for ‘huge’ wage increase at Arsenal
Myles Lewis-Skelly is expected to receive a ‘huge’ wage increase at Arsenal following his impressive debut campaign in Mikel Arteta’s squad, sources have told TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey.
Talks are progressing well with the defender and it is fully expected that his deal will be finalised ahead of the new season, but likely before pre-season even begins.
The Gunners are due to head away for pre-season at the end of July and will be travelling to Singapore, where they will face AC Milan and Newcastle United.
Fixture Date
AC Milan (Singapore) July 23
Newcastle (Singapore) July 27
Tottenham (Hong Kong) July 31

Speaking to TBR Football about the situation, Bailey revealed: “Unlike Nwaneri, where there are some issues, as we reported, the same can’t be said of Lewis-Skelly.
“A full England international and a fixture in the Arsenal side, he is going to get a huge and justified wage rise. With him, it is when rather than if it is confirmed. Arsenal are over the moon with his progress in the last 12 months.”
Arsenal will want to avoid potential PSR issues by losing such a valuable homegrown talent for free and that is why such a big effort is being made to renew his deal.

What has Myles Lewis-Skelly said about playing left-back under Mikel Arteta?
One major talking point around Lewis-Skelly is where his best position is with the 18-year-old having played as a midfielder during his academy days.
Although last season, under Arteta, he became a left-back, and it will be interesting to see how that changes over the next few years.
Speaking about making the switch to left-back, Lewis-Skelly told Pro:Direct Soccer, “Initially, I’ll be honest I wanted to play midfield and I believe I could have played midfield, but obviously god has other plans and left-back is what I’m doing now. Anyway, I can help the team.”
