Who didn't participate in Eagles OTAs on Wednesday and why didn't they explained

Day two of the Philadelphia Eagles' OTAs concluded. With the media present, there was more clarification on who attended, who didn't, and who was there but didn't participate in practice.

There are 90 men on the Eagles' roster, and the majority of the roster showed up for the workout. Some of the top players, including Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and others, were physically present and participating.

Philadelphia had some noticeable players out, as well as some who did not practice despite being present. Who were those players that didn't participate, and why didn't they?

Eagles' attendance report for May 28 OTAs

Philadelphia Inquirer Eagles reporter Jeff McLane kept track of who was not present at OTAs and who was there but did not practice. Let's start with who was not there, but there isn't a specific reason for it:

DE Bryce Huff

WR DeVonta Smith

WR/PR Avery Williams

S Reed Blankenship

T Lane Johnson

Huff was the headline of the group due to his lackluster performance last year, and has been involved in much speculation about being traded or released before the season. The other players who are out aren't as much of a concern since it is a voluntary workout, and they aren't required to be there.

McLane next noted the players that weren't there most likely because of injury:

LB Nakobe Dean

LB Jihaad Campbell

FB Ben VanSumeren

G Landon Dickerson

It's worth noting that Dean and Campbell were both seen walking into the facility and watched the late part of the practice. Dean is still recovering from his torn patellar tendon in his left knee that he suffered in the NFC Wild Card game against the Green Bay Packers. Campbell is recovering from his labrum surgery on his left shoulder.

VanSumeren and Dickerson were not seen at the facility on Wednesday, as they are dealing with their injuries. During practice in November, VanSumeren injured his knee, which cost him the rest of the season. Dickerson is also dealing with a knee injury he recovered from last year.

The last part of McLane's list included players who were present but did not participate due to injury, and that was starting center Cam Jurgens. This offseason, Jurgens went through a procedure for his back which he is still recovering from.

NBC Sports in Philadelphia also reported that Nolan Smith Jr. participated in individual workouts but did not participate in team drills. Smith was seen with a brace on his left elbow as he still recovers from tearing his triceps in the Super Bowl.

One other notable note was that wide receivers A.J. Brown and Johnny Wilson did not participate in any of the team drills. There are no reports of any injuries or other concerns they are dealing with. Philadelphia rolled with Jahan Dotson, Terrace Marshall, and Ainias Smith as their top receivers.

On the defensive side of the ball, Jalen Carter was also not a participant in team drills. Carter also did not have any injuries reported.

It's only two days, and more should be reported on as the media continues to monitor at least one more of the OTAs, but there isn't a lot to be concerned about for Eagles fans. Besides the Huff drama and a few injuries, the team looks poised for a Super Bowl repeat.
