Report: Everton now eyeing move to sign 'incredible' £110,000-a-week striker as Delap…

Everton could look to bring in Newcastle United star Callum Wilson on a free transfer this summer, according to reports - with the Toffees wanting to start their new stadium era with a spate of high-profile signings to put their woeful few Premier League seasons behind them in the hopes of becoming a European challenging outfit once again.

Wilson only started three times for Newcastle this season thanks to the form of star man Alexander Isak, and failed to score a Premier League goal this season despite Newcastle finishing fifth - but David Moyes still wants to take him to Merseyside to begin a new era at the club's Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The report by The Sun states that Wilson is wanted by two Premier League clubs if he turns down Newcastle's latest offer to keep him on the books at St. James' Park - and with the Magpies' newest bid for him being on reduced terms, that could see Everton steal a march in the race to sign him on a free transfer.

Leeds United were the first club to make a move for the Newcastle star, who is currently set to depart the Tyneside outfit at the end of June once his £110,000-per-week contract runs out - and with the Magpies deciding against taking up their one-year option on the 33-year-old, they have offered him a fresh offer on reduced terms which is based on appearances.

Moyes is thought to be 'desperate' to bring in another striker, though he won't want to pay a large fee - which is why Wilson would fit the bill for the Scot if he's available on a free transfer.

Despite a poor injury record being a concern, former Bournemouth star Wilson does know where the back of the net is, having scored 88 goals in just 239 Premier League outings - and Everton could opt for him alongside a younger option, to fire them to a top-half place.

The Toffees are also interested in signing Liam Delap after his breakthrough campaign at Ipswich Town, given he has a £30million release clause that became active upon Ipswich's relegation to the Championship - and with the possibility of learning from Wilson, bringing the duo in would be fine business for the Toffees.
