Sacramento Kings’ pre-draft workout includes son of former NBA All-Star

The Kings will bring in six more NBA prospects for a pre-draft workout Thursday at their Golden 1 Center practice facility in Sacramento.

The list includes the son of a former NBA All-Star who ended his career with the Kings and stayed in Sacramento to serve the organization as an assistant coach.

All six players are hoping to climb draft boards in hopes of hearing their names called in the second round of the NBA draft, which will be held June 25-26. The Kings, whose first-round pick belongs to the Atlanta Hawks, will have the 42nd overall pick in Round 2.

Thursday’s workout will feature Northwestern’s Brooks Barnhizer, USC’s Saint Thomas, Providence’s Jabri Abdur-Rahim, Pepperdine’s Stefan Todorovic, Southern Methodist’s Matt Cross and Boise State’s Tyson Degenhart.

Barnhizer is a 6-foot-4, 229-pound guard/forward who had a big senior season at Northwestern. He averaged 17.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.1 blocks.

Thomas is a 6-7, 234-pound small forward. He averaged 19.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.9 steals at Northern Colorado in 2023-24. He then transferred to USC, where he averaged 9.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.3 steals as a senior last season.

Abdur-Rahim is a 6-6, 225-pound shooting guard who played for Virginia and Georgia before finishing his career at Providence. He averaged 7.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 0.4 steals last season. He averaged 12.2 points at Georgia in 2023-24 and shot 35.6% from 3-point range during his college career.

Abdur-Rahim is the son of NBA G League president Shareef Abdur-Rahim, who played for the Kings from 2005-08.

Todorovic is a 6-8, 210-pound forward from Serbia who played for Southern Methodist, USF and Pepperdine. He had a breakout senior season for the Waves, averaging 18.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals.

Cross is a 6-6, 225-pound power forward. He played for Miami, Louisville and UMass before finishing his college career at SMU, where he averaged 11.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 38.2% from 3-point range last season.

Degenhart, a 6-8, 235-pound forward, spent four years at Boise State. He averaged 18.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 0.6 steals as a senior, shooting 52.6% from the field and 34.9% from 3-point range.
