Florian Wirtz sets transfer timeline for Liverpool to complete the deal

Liverpool’s move for Florian Wirtz is picking up pace — but the clock is ticking. The German playmaker has reportedly made it clear he wants his future sorted before he joins up with the national team for UEFA Nations League duty on June 2.

That gives the Reds less than a week to cross the finish line in what’s shaping up to be one of the summer’s biggest transfer stories.

With big money on the table and big names watching, this deal is moving as fast as Wirtz himself on a counterattack.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed another standout year with Bayer Leverkusen. He scored 16 goals, set up 15 more this term, and helped his club lift their first-ever Bundesliga title last season.

No wonder Europe’s top clubs are lining up — but it’s Liverpool leading the charge.

Liverpool’s current offer is reportedly north of €100 million (£85 million), but Leverkusen are holding firm at a value closer to €130 million.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, both sides are sending “offers back and forth” as they try to find common ground.

“Leverkusen are trying to get a player out of Liverpool,” Plettenberg added.

A possible player swap could delay things — and the Reds will need to make sure this doesn’t go into extra time.

Meanwhile, German legend Toni Kroos has given the move his stamp of approval. “He [Wirtz] is a player who can prevail at any club in the world in my opinion,” Kroos said. “It doesn’t matter if it would’ve been Bayern or Liverpool.”

That’s high praise — and high pressure.

For now, Wirtz remains a Leverkusen player. But with the window about to open and Liverpool pushing hard, this one could be wrapped up soon — if the Reds can finish what they’ve started.
