Jose Mourinho recently tried to lure £55m Man City star to Fenerbahce with £21m salary

Change is coming to the midfield of Manchester City this summer.

Pep Guardiola is keen to add new faces to the middle of the park as this area of the pitch struggled for the most part throughout a tough 2024/25 campaign for the Manchester club.

Man City are closing in on Tijjani Reijnders, who will be a great addition to Guardiola’s squad and will form a deadly partnership with Rodri at the heart of City’s team.

While further up the pitch, Rayan Cherki is now a top target for Man City and should the Premier League side sign the French star, the 21-year-old will be tasked with replacing Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgian is yet to decide his future, but it has now been revealed that Jose Mourinho tried to bring the 33-year-old to Fenerbahce in recent weeks.

Fenerbahce offered Kevin De Bruyne £21m to move to Turkey

It was reported this week that De Bruyne is yet to make a decision on his future, although the Man City captain seems to favour a move to Napoli at present.

This is similar to the latest update on the Belgian from Sacha Tavolieri, who reports that the 33-year-old has been told that Antonio Conte will stay in Naples next season, which will make the City star’s move to Italy more likely.

The journalist also revealed that Fenerbahce have tried to sign De Bruyne in recent weeks, with the Turkish club offering the Premier League legend a two-year contract with a salary of £21m (€25m) to join Jose Mourinho’s squad.

Fenerbahce have not been mentioned with regards to the race for De Bruyne, with Napoli being the main club showing interest recently, while Chicago Fire are also keen on the Man City star.

A move to Naples would be very exciting for the Belgian superstar as he would be joining a very passionate club, who can offer him Champions League football next season, but it remains to be seen if the Serie A outfit can get the transfer over the line.

Napoli make a move that increases their Kevin De Bruyne hopes

De Bruyne’s move to Italy was thrown in serious doubt last week as it emerged that Conte would be leaving Napoli ahead of next season.

However, it seems that the two parties are working on trying to keep the Italian coach with the Serie A champions for longer, as Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the Naples-based side have offered the former Chelsea boss an increase in his current salary as part of their plan to keep him at the club.

Keeping Conte in Naples will be crucial if Napoli are to sign De Bruyne this summer, as the Italian is one of the best coaches in the world and is someone the Man City legend will be keen to work alongside.

The next few days will be crucial for the future of De Bruyne, as it remains to be seen where Man City fans can watch the 33-year-old continue his career after having an incredible 10 years at the Etihad Stadium since his £55m move from Wolfsburg in 2015.
