When it comes to Joy Taylor and any criticism she offers about the behavior of another person in the spotlight, we feel we'd be remiss in not pointing out the "elephant in the room'' irony of her rants.
FOX's Taylor is, you see, embroiled in a sex-scandal lawsuit that has yet to be resolved. She is marching on as if nothing is happening ... and maybe nothing will come of it.
And maybe plowing forward with controversial opinions about controversial subjects is a sign of innocence.
Or, at least, is a strategy.
The challenge for the national talk-show people, as always, though, is having their facts straight when it comes to their criticisms ... and that's a challenge. How is she or anyone else supposed to be an expert on the NBA playoffs and the NHL playoffs and MLB and all 32 NFL teams and their assorted machinations?
The truth? They can't be. So they aren't. And next thing you know, somebody like Joy Taylor is roasting four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers for not participating in the Pittsburgh Steelers' OTAs this week ...
Ignoring the fact that the 41-year-old QB remains a free agent and doesn't play for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
On Tuesday's "Speak," the FS1 let loose on Rodgers for not being at practice.
"This is the Pittsburgh Steelers!'' she said theatrically. "They have six Lombardis. They're coached by a first-ballot Hall of Fame Mike Tomlin who has never had a losing season, and we're sitting around talking about Aaron Rodgers is not there on the first day of OTAs. Mandatory or not, where is your pride? Where is your dignity? Where is your respect for the game? Where is your respect for the organization?
"What are we talking about?"
She continued ...
"He's never played there before. He doesn't know any of his teammates. ... He doesn't know anybody! ... Nothing. Like, why would you not be there? Why am I supposed to take this seriously? It's not about him not being at non-mandatory OTA for a team that he's been with for 22 years. ... The year before that you didn't play because you tore your Achilles. The year before that you missed the playoffs.
"What are we talking about?"
What "we are talking about'' is a player who doesn't play for the Steelers being chastised for not being at work ... with a team he doesn't play for. And of course, Taylor is getting ripped by Steelers watchers and NFL fans for her embarrassing gaffe.
In this space, we've been highly critical of Rodgers. But our criticism regards how he's "held the Steelers hostage'' by not signing. It's not how he's doing the wrong this by not showing up to work for "his team.''
Because while Joy Taylor might somehow be unaware of this ... The Pittsburgh Steelers are not yet Aaron Rodgers' team.
