McCarthy managed at Portman Road from 2012 until 2018, taking charge of 279 matches, winning 105, drawing 76 and losing 98.

The Irishman has been in charge of 1,042 games, started his managerial career with Millwall when he was still a player in 1992, before becoming Ireland manager in 1996.
