Alabama fans, largely unacquainted with Kalen DeBoer's offense a year ago, fixated on the receivers.

And why not? Washington's Rome Odunze, Ja'Lynn Polk and Jalen McMillan went in the first, second and third round of the NFL Draft, respectively. Meanwhile, the fourth receiver on the Huskies, Germie Bernard, had the look of a difference-maker (which he was).

But something got lost in the hype: the tight ends.

They're not ornamental in DeBoer's offense. They're vital, as we found out last season.

Two tight ends were on the field simultaneously -- usually CJ Dippre and Robbie Ouzts -- 31.4% of the time. Those two combined for 29 catches and two touchdowns, and were instrumental in run-blocking situations.

And now they're both gone.

So where does Alabama go from here? What's the best case and worst case scenario at tight end this season?
