Jets Trade Breece Hall Predicted By NFL Analyst

Rumors about the New York Jets potentially trading Breece Hall have been swirling all offseason, and Wednesday was no different.

Hall is entering the final year of his $9 million rookie contract, and Jets head coach Aaron Glenn commented earlier in the offseason that the Jets could deploy a three-man committee at running back, which Hall would not take kindly to, especially during a contract year.

The Jets drafted Hall with the No. 36 overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Hall has played in some of the NFL's worst and most woefully constructed offenses during his three year NFL career, but has still managed to produce.

Hall averaged 5.8 yards per carry in an injury-derailed rookie campaign. In 2023, Hall finished just six yards shy of a 1,000 yard season, adding five touchdowns and 40 first downs to his 994 yard season on 223 carries.

Hall had a down year in 2024, but still managed to hit solid marks in an offense that struggled to click all season. Hall took 209 carries for 876 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 4.2 yards per carry. Hall has always thrived in the receiving game as well, tallying 1,292 yards and eight touchdowns on 152 catches in his 40 NFL games.

Sports Illustrated's Connor Orr compiled a list of 100 bold predictions for the upcoming NFL season, and cracking the top-30 was the Jets dishing off Breece Hall.

"The Jets will trade Breece Hall before the season opener," Orr wrote. "A handful of running back-needy teams — the Bengals, Chiefs, Texans and Cowboys — will get through camp and search to upgrade at the position, while the Jets will seek to pair Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis with a veteran still on the market who is looking to sign closer to the start of the regular season. Maybe Aaron Glenn’s former player, Jamaal Williams?"

Allen and Davis both showed flashes in 2024. Allen was the youngest player in the NFL in 2024, not turning 21 until January. He showed off his potential as a big, bruising back with his 6-foot-1, 235 pound frame. Allen ran for 334 yards and two touchdowns, and averaged 4.8 yards per carry in the first four weeks of the NFL season.

Davis, as a 22-year old rookie only took 30 carries, but ran for 174 yards and a touchdown. Davis' 5.8 yards per carry was the most of any Jets running back, and the best mark of any Jets player with at least three carries.
