Takefusa Kobu Real Sociedad
Real Sociedad
Takefusa Kubo is attracting interest from the Premier League and according to Fichajes, the winger is on the radar of Liverpool and Arsenal.
The right-winger never got to play a single game for Real Madrid and finally he went on to join Real Sociedad in 2022 for a fee of just €6.5 million. He’s spent three seasons with the La Liga side and even though his contract expires in 2029, there are growing reports that the Japanese international could be leaving in the summer.
Arsenal and Liverpool are both looking to strengthen their wide areas but the winger’s €60 million release clause is going to be a stumbling block for both clubs. It’s not that they won’t be able to spend €60 million but should they really pay that much for a right winger?
Is Takefusa Kubo worth a €60m move to the Premier League?
Real Madrid have a buy-back clause inserted in their deal but Los Blancos are not calling back Takefusa Kubo in a hurry. The winger’s time with Sociedad has been pretty average with 23 goals and 18 assists in 137 appearances.
Every campaign he’s played more than 40 games but never has he been able to hit double digits in the goals or assists tally.
This season, he’s made just 11 goal contributions in 52 matches and these numbers are just not enough to justify a place in the Liverpool or Arsenal starting lineup next season. Both these teams have world-class right-wingers in their squad and Takefusa Kubo is not good enough to keep Bukayo Saka or Mo Salah on the bench.

However, he is a great team player who is always willing to help out his defenders and this quality will be very appreciated by both Arne Slot and Mikel Arteta. If Kubo is willing to play second fiddle then Arsenal or Liverpool will be happy to have him on board but for a transfer to happen, Real Sociedad will need to lower their demands.
There’s no way either of the two Premier League giants will be ready to pay €60 million for a potential benchwarmer.
A fee in the region of €40-45 million will be ideal for the 23-year-old but we doubt if Sociedad are going to lower their asking price because Real Madrid are set to earn 50% from a potential sale.
