Liverpool have reportedly set a price tag of £50 million on young centre-back Jarell Quansah ahead of the start of the summer transfer window.
Quansah, 22, has cemented himself as a squad member for his current team since the start of the 2023-24 season. He has bagged three goals and provided as many assists in 58 total matches for the Reds so far.
Now, according to the Daily Mail, Liverpool have slapped an asking price of £50 million for Quansah, who struggled to shine under Arne Slot. They would be open to offloading their youth product in the future should the club sign a new centre-back.
Should Liverpool opt to sell Quansah this summer, they would have only three senior centre-backs left in their squad. They could decide to snap up a defender to offer depth to Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, and Joe Gomez.
Quansah, whose current contract will expire in June 2029, has reportedly attracted interest from a host of Premier League and Bundesliga clubs.
Fabrizio Romano offers update on 3 Liverpool targets
Speaking recently on his YouTube channel, acclaimed transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano shed light on Liverpool's recruitment activity. He opined (h/t Football365):
"Let me clarify that the conversations for Florian Wirtz to Liverpool continue. So let me be very clear. Jeremie Frimpong, done. Milos Kerkez, a deal that can really happen with conversations underway with Bournemouth and the agreement with the player almost okay. So, the Reds are now working on the Milos Kerkez deal."
Providing insight into Florian Wirtz's potential move, Romano added:
"As for Florian Wirtz, agreement with the player done and conversations underway with Bayer Leverkusen after first proposal. They are discussing about the bonuses, they are discussing all the details of this deal but for sure they are working hard to get the Florian Wirtz deal done... and it won't take too long. That's the message coming from those close to this deal."
The Merseyside team are reportedly set to announce Jeremie Frimpong, having activated the Bayer Leverkusen man's £30 million release clause. They have also allegedly tabled a bid worth £84 million plus bonuses for Wirtz. They have also reportedly agreed personal terms with Milos Kerkez ahead of a potential move from Bournemouth.
Wirtz, who was also linked with Manchester City and Bayern Munich, has emerged as a superstar over the last two seasons. The 22-year-old has contributed 34 goals and 35 assists in his last 94 club outings across all competitions.
