Man Utd star Amad explains why he showed middle finger to fan in emotional message

Manchester United winger Amad has revealed that he put his middle finger up to a fan in Malaysia because he doesn’t respect people who insult his mother. Amad jetted off with the United squad for their post-season tour of Asia following the conclusion of the Premier League campaign on Sunday. The Red Devils lost their opening game against an ASEAN All-Star team in Kuala Lumpa on Wednesday.

Amad ended the Premier League season with eight goals to his name as he found the back of the net during his side’s final clash against Aston Villa at the weekend. The 22-year-old was named on the bench against the ASEAN All-Star and was introduced as a second half substitute as United were defeated 1-0. Ruben Amorim’s side will travel to Hong Kong to take on the national team of the former British colony in their second game of the tour before players head off on their summer break.

“I have respect for people but not for the one who insults my mom,” Amad explained as he posted an emotional message to X (formerly Twitter).

“I shouldn't have reacted like that but I don't regret what I did. We had a great time in Malaysia with good people.”
