Famed actor and rabid New York Knicks fan Ben Stiller has invited former Indianapolis Colts punter and radio personality Pat McAfee to Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers on Thursday night. Stiller extended the invitation after McAfee made what he believes was a “weird” joke about him.
Prior to Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers, the Indiana Pacers stadium staff gave Pat McAfee a mic and put a camera in his face to have him essentially cut a promo in which he smack-talked the famous Knicks fans in attendance, specifically, Stiller, Spike Lee, and “Coach” Timothee Chalamet.
“Indianapolis, Indiana, we got some bigwigs from the big city in the building. Spike Lee is here. Ben Stiller is here. Timothée Chalamet is here. Let’s send these sons of b—— back to New York with their ears bleeding!” McAfee yelled to the crowd ahead of Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals, which the Pacers won to take a 3-1 lead.
Stiller then responded to McAfee’s call out on Twitter, calling it “weird” as they were just happy to be there to cheer on the Knicks.

The longtime actor and director, in a separate tweet, then said McAfee must have been just “playing around,” otherwise he found the joke about ‘big city celebs in the heartland’ to be cliche.
“He must be playing around – if it’s an actual point of view it seems a little anachronistic or cliche? Like we are ‘big city celebs’ and we shouldn’t be there in the heartland? Again, everyone we met was awesome and incredibly cool.”

Frankly, I see both points of view here. McAfee comes from a wrestling background and was essentially cutting a promo. But on the other, Stiller is right: is the idea that ‘big city celebs shouldn’t be in the heartland’ even a joke at all? Or is it the type of ideology that’s slowly dividing the country. McAfee also IS a celebrity, and a massive one at that.
