_The one position group on this roster that seems to have had minimal discussion around it this offseason is safety. I didn't think they were particularly great last season, and there was no major shakeup there. How should fans feel about the position right now?_ **– Adam Smith/Little Rock, AR**
**Patrik:** It's actually one of the few positions that concerned me the least entering the offseason, outside of the obvious, e.g., the health of Markquese Bell. Seeing as Juanyeh Thomas was an exclusive rights free agent this spring with only need of the Cowboys exercising their team option on him, which they inevitably did, there wasn't a worry that promising young safety would be going anywhere. Malik Hooker continues to play at a high level (high, not perfect) and I stood on the table all of last season to proclaim how Donovan Wilson was being miscast by Mike Zimmer, leading to a season he'd mostly like to forget, but Matt Eberflus' scheme is far more suited to the team's human heat-seeker. And with Bell now presumably healthy and back on track (he's participating in OTAs) following his season-ending shoulder injury, I believe the Cowboys are all set at safety.
Throw in three rookies to help keep camp interesting as far as depth goes and, no, there's very little, barring injury, that makes me question the safety unit in Dallas right now.
