Simon Jordan has now aimed a fresh dig at Newcastle United.
It was a remarkable season for Newcastle United. In March, they ended their trophy hoodoo by winning the Carabao Cup at Wembley and, only a few months later, Eddie Howe’s side qualified for the Champions League.
To have done all that after not having made a first-team signing last summer or in January is a remarkable feat of coaching.
Newcastle have just enjoyed their best season in modern history. Now, they are in a position to build on it.
The Carabao Cup victory ended 70 years of hurt on Tyneside. Jordan, however, aimed another dig at some of the media reaction but did praise Howe’s achievements.

Jordan thinks Newcastle got treated favourably in the media when compared to Crystal Palace’s FA Cup victory.
Writing in The Daily Mail, he again stressed that Newcastle were on the end of an “endless media love-in” after their Wembley win.
Still, he did pick Howe over Oliver Glasner as his Manager of the Season.

“It’s a split decision with Eddie Howe just edging Oliver Glasner,” he wrote.
“Both won a trophy – and by the way the FA Cup is bigger than the Carabao – but Howe has also delivered Champions League football.
“Given the endless media love-in about Newcastle’s success in winning silverware, I surely must be allowed to give it a mention in my column too!
“Palace have less resource than Newcastle and also punched hard in the league after a difficult start. But Howe’s achievement was also monumental, getting the monkey off Newcastle’s back with all the public emotion that came with that, besides returning to Europe’s elite competition.”
Eddie Howe snubbed as Premier League make official announcement
Howe was nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Season Award for all of his efforts on Tyneside.
On Wednesday, however, the Premier League confirmed Liverpool boss Arne Slot had won the award.
The Dutchman has just won the league in his first season at Anfield, so is hardly a shock winner.
Still, Howe’s work is worthy of applause. Following such a turbulent summer, the fact he was able to get his team back into the Champions League all while defeating Slot’s Liverpool at Wembley is seriously impressive.
Such is the upward trajectory of the club under Howe, it would not be much of a surprise to see him at least nominated again after next season…
