Amad has broken his silence after apparently sticking his middle finger up at fans on tour.

Manchester United star Amad has hit back after being subjected to insults following their post-season friendly defeat in Malaysia. A photograph went viral after their 1-0 disappointment against the ASEAN All-Star team in Kuala Lumpar, where the Ivorian is seen gesturing towards fans with his middle finger up.

The 22-year-old has admitted that he shouldn't have reacted, but fired back after he claimed to have been the target of personal insults regarding his mother. The Manchester Evening News reported that the forward was left 'very upset' after serious personal insults were directed at him as he made his way back to the team bus.

The Daily Mail reported that the real reason behind Amad's remark was down to serious personal abuse sent in his direction, while suggestions emerged online that it was linked to his name and desire for people not to use 'Diallo'.

Although the exact nature of the exchange has not been revealed, Amad has been left in distress and not pleased after the incident.

In a post on social media, Amad said: "I have respect for people but not for the one who insults my mom… I shouldn't have reacted like that but I don't regret what I did. We had a great time in Malaysia with good people."

The final stretch of United's post-season tour continues on Friday (1pm kick-off) as they take on Hong Kong.

Amad was involved with the club's pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow's encounter and the 22-year-old discussed the tour they have had so far.

"We are here to give them [the fans] joy and time," he began. We want to make sure they enjoy everything. We try to play every game more focused, like the manager said.

"The most important thing is to give them joy. If we give them joy, we are really happy with that. I think we are here to give them joy," he continued.

"We played the game yesterday like a real game, we were really focused. We are here to enjoy the moment and give them joy."
