Jets Fans Named Among Worst In NFL

The New York Jets haven't made the playoffs since 2010, and have posted a winning record just once in that time. The Jets during this span have been arguably the worst team in the NFL, especially when you consider the Jets have finished with five or fewer wins seven times in that span.

To put it simply: Being a Jets fan has been a test of attrition over the past decade and a half. 15 years of mostly uncompetitive football takes a toll on a fan. Yet, the Jets fanbase remains loyal, with the team routinely landing in the top-five in attendance. Even in a five-win 2024 campaign, the Jets were second in the NFL in attendance, despite playing just seven games at home.

It's a fanbase that is deeply loyal, despite how masochistic the relationship is.

Bookies.com analyzed a sample of 1,000 comments left by users on each of the 32 NFL teams official subreddits to figure out which fan base is the most vulgar, and it should come as no surprise that the Jets took home the crown as the team with the most profane fanbase.

"Your winner . . . the New York Jets," wrote bookies.com's Bill Speros. "The last time the Jets won a Super Bowl, man had yet to land on the moon, Lyndon Johnson was president, and no one had ever heard of MRIs or cell phones. That was January of 1969. Gang Green has led fans on a 50-plus-year journey of frustration ever since. What has a half-century of failure done to their souls? How can they express the pain? The anger? Profanity. It might not be the most refined of reactions. But it helps."

The Jets logged 154 "swear words" out of 1,000 comments. The second place team was the Philadelphia Eagles with 147, and no other fanbase eclipsed the 140 mark. The Eagles are coming fresh off a Super Bowl victory while making the playoffs in seven of the last eight NFL seasons. Perhaps some of Philadelphia's vulgarity comes out of celebration and pleasure, but the Jets can't exactly lay claim to a similar ideology.

With a new general manager in Darren Mougey, a new head coach in Aaron Glenn, and a new quarterback in Justin Fields for 2025, hopefully for the fanbase's sake the tides can turn for the franchise's fortune.
