John Terry Reveals Chelsea Must Sign Experienced Players to Take the Next Step

Chelsea former captain John Terry has pointed out the most important areas which he feels the club needs to improve. He wants the Blues to build further, after securing a spot in next season’s Champions League.

Terry reiterated that they need experienced and proven Premier League players to strengthen the squad. He credited the work of current striker Nicolas Jackson, referring to his capacity to tear defenses apart and find space:

“I think Nico [Jackson] has been really good, firstly. When I watch him play, he’s only one of a handful of strikers in the league that plays on the shoulder. As a defender, that’s a nightmare it opens up space. I like Nico.”

However, Terry admitted:

“If you are looking at the next step, you need someone proven and who has scored goals in the Premier League.

“Usually that’s an experienced player but the owners are clear, they don’t want to bring in someone of 29, 30 years of age on big money. It’s a different model. I personally feel we need that.”

Looking ahead, Terry believes that with the right additions, Chelsea can become more competitive. He also pointed out how taking the load off players such as Cole Palmer is crucial.

“Securing Champions League football is big for us, getting those players in with experience and some back up if Cole [Palmer] does drop off slightly to take responsibility away from him. Three or four big players in and we’ll be better for it.”

Chelsea are preparing for a demanding season ahead, including participation in the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Chelsea Seek Out Experienced Striker in Victor Osimhen: Reports

Chelsea’s interest in Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen remains high as the club continues to build up its attacking department for next season. The 26-year-old is said to be eager to sign for Stamford Bridge, with personal terms already agreed with him.

But negotiations with Napoli have been complicated by the club’s valuation of the player and his wage demands. Napoli had placed a release fee of €130 million on Osimhen, but sources indicate that they would now willingly accept less.

Adding to the complexity is the fact that Saudi club Al Hilal reportedly made Osimhen a big-money €30 million-a-year offer. However, Osimhen is said to have a preference for a move to the Premier League, leaving the Blues in contention.
