Polarizing Eagle Making It Easy to Say Goodbye With OTA Update

The Philadelphia Eagles officially began their quest to win back-to-back Super Bowls on Tuesday when they started [Organized Team Activities (OTAs)](section215.com/traded-eagle-brings-even-more-drama-to-new-team-with-ota-absence-01jwbyp2mftp). While Tuesday's practice was closed off to the media, Wednesday's was not. Thus, Eagles fans were granted the first attendance check of OTAs.

Despite Philadelphia almost having perfect attendance, there was one notable player missing. According to Brandon Lee Gowton of Bleeding Green, edge rusher Bryce Huff was absent. Huff's absence only adds another reason for Eagles fans to want him off the team.

Bryce Huff Already Off to a Rough Start in Second Year with Philadelphia

------------------------------------------------------------------------

During the 2024 offseason, signed Huff to a three-year deal worth $51.1 million. The 26-year-old was coming off a breakout season with the New York Jets, where he recorded 29 tackles, 10 TFLs, 10 sacks, 67 QB pressures, 12 QB hits, and 45 QB hurries, according to PFF. Huff's breakout campaign in 2023 was a continuation of his improvement in production from his first three seasons.

Upon signing, the Eagles were hoping he would continue ascending or at least be able to be a high-level rotational player. Unfortunately, he was unable to reach either of the descriptors in 2024. Last season, Huff recorded 13 tackles, 20 QB pressures, 17 QB hurries, three TFLs, 2.5 sacks, and one QB hit.

Huff got outshone by multiple other edge rushers, including Josh Sweat and Nolan Smith. After a breakout season like the 26-year-old had in 2023, a massive step back in production like that is embarrassing.

Moreover, after losing players like Sweat and Milton Williams this offseason, both Eagles fans and the organization were likely hoping Huff could return to form in 2025. However, missing what is likely the first two days of OTAs is not a good start. Though it isn't known to the public if Huff was at practice on Tuesday or not, it's a safe assumption to make that he wasn't.

If Huff continues to miss OTAs, it's safe to say that he might not make the Eagles' 53-man roster to begin the season.
