Everton suffer significant £6m blow and it's all the Premier League's fault

With Everton now working as a sustainable club after their previous errors, the Premier League still isn’t helping matters.

There has been a real change in Everton’s ethos since The Friedkin Group arrived as owners.

An exciting future awaits under David Moyes, with the Scotsman hoping to deliver fans a solid transfer window.

The squad needs a major overhaul, and with Everton landing a £51m windfall, this will help with proceedings.

But something the Premier League did this season has caused a major loss, which Moyes won’t be happy with.

Everton suffer significant £6m blow after Premier League howler

The Everton fans and the Premier League don’t have the best relationship, and that’s been shown recently after Man City’s charges decision.

This is due to the league handling different matters in different ways, with fans not seeing the positives from their outcomes.

Now with a positive future, Everton will hope they don’t cause any more issues, but that isn’t looking likely anytime soon.

During a season, something that is important to top-flight clubs is their earnings from being broadcast on TV.

This helps with revenue, which The Friedkins will hope to produce in large amounts, especially as Bramley-Moore Dock cost £800m.

Well, the Liverpool Echo have revealed the figures for the sums from broadcasting this season, and it doesn’t read well if you’re an Evertonian.

The sum that is handed out from the domestic games that are shown live by either Sky Sports, TNT Sports, and Amazon is £839,000.

For the 2024/25 campaign, Everton were on TV 16 times, which means they have earned £14.5million.

This might seem beneficial, but this is a dramatic drop-off compared to last season, when Everton had 23 live games and earned £20.2m.

Meaning a £6m loss has occurred at the hands of the Premier League, which fans won’t take too well to.

Next season could see Everton land major TV role

The hope is that with Everton on the rise, this will then gain them more traction in terms of their football and players.

Because of this, TV Broadcasters will take an interest and include them more on TV due to their improvement in football terms.

Last season was only beneficial from a TV point of view because of Everton’s relegation battle, and now Moyes just needs to guide them away from becoming a mid-table team with nothing to play for.

Tarkowski said Everton could replicate Nottingham Forest in terms of landing a European spot, and this would do well for their fortunes of appearing on TV next campaign, and the defender will hope he can replicate moments like his goal against Liverpool.

However, it’s still not good enough from the Premier League, who will have left Everton frustrated.
