COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Former professional football player Ryan Leaf will be in the Midlands on Thursday to host a special event.
From noon until 2 p.m., Leaf will be at the “Our Day in May” lunch event at Williams-Brice Stadium.
During the event, Leaf will share his experience through recovery while helping those seeking to do the same thing.
Leaf, selected in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft, played quarterback for the San Diego Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Seattle Seahawks.
He had been vocal about his struggles with substance abuse, which resulted in multiple arrests. Now, Leaf often shares his story to help others through their recovery journey.
