Everton have activated the option to sign Charly Alcaraz on a permanent basis from Flamengo despite not being obligated to do so.
That’s [according to GE Globo](https://ge.globo.com/futebol/times/flamengo/noticia/2025/05/29/flamengo-acerta-venda-de-alcaraz-ao-everton-por-r-96-milhoes.ghtml?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=Social&utm_content=Esporte&utm_campaign=globoEsporte), who report that Everton will buy the midfielder for €15m plus €3m in bonuses despite avoiding the purchase obligation in his loan deal. An announcement is on the way and should presumably happen over the next couple of days.
They report that Everton had until May 31st to signal to Flamengo that they were going to buy Alcaraz. They’ve spent the past few days talking with the midfielder before contacting Flamengo. They struck an agreement with Alcaraz on Wednesday.
The various parties are set to sign a contract in the coming days. Everton had been obligated to buy Alcaraz if he had started nine Premier League games. This did not happen. Previous reports had the number at six and eight, or him playing at least 45 minutes in the same number of games.
Everton have since decided to buy Alcaraz regardless and seemingly, not try to renegotiate the terms of the agreement with Flamengo.
The 22-year-old will therefore become Everton’s first permanent signing of what is expected to be a busy summer rebuild under David Moyes.
