Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vitor Pereira has admitted he feels proud of the work he’s done at the club so far.
[A Bola have comments](https://www.abola.pt/) from the Wolves boss today in which he insists Wolves will always be special regardless of what happens in future.
Pereira arrived to replace Gary O’Neil as Wolves boss in the middle of December with the club firmly rooted in Premier League relegation trouble.
He guided them away from that comfortably, with a 1.56 points per game ratio across his 25 games so far and 10 wins in 22 games in the Premier League. That’s 1.5 points per game.
The Portuguese boss eventually guided Wolves to 16th in the Premier League and 17 points from the relegation zone, something Pereira admits makes him very proud.
_“I feel a sense of duty accomplished, proud of the work done,”_ he said.
_“We arrived in a very difficult situation, but we managed to turn things around, we managed to connect people, give tactical direction too, but much more than tactics was connecting people, transmitting confidence to the team, connecting the fans with the team, with the city itself and things worked out well.”_
Pereira has become something of a cult figure in Wolves since his arrival, with their performances on the pitch and positive results only half of it.
A real affinity has been built up with the club’s fans, who deeply appreciate Pereira’s approachable nature. The fact he likes to drink in the city among the fans hasn’t helped either.
How long he remains at Wolves remains to be seen given his predecessors O’Neil, Julen Lopetegui and Bruno Lage all lasted a year. The current Wolves boss isn’t concerned with that and instead insists the club will remain special regardless.
_“It will always be a special club in my career,”_ he said.
_“It was the one that opened the doors to the English league for me, which for so many years was my fundamental career goal, I will be grateful, and I want to continue helping them grow._
_“Returning to Portugal? I am there and I am fine (laughs). I want to stay for a long time.”_
