Brighton and Porto trying to tempt player but he’s found ‘ideal environment’ elsewhere

Brighton and Hove Albion are trying to tempt Ilaix Moriba into a move this summer, but he’d prefer to stay in Spain with Celta Vigo.

That’s according to Sport, who report that the midfielder is finalising his future with the Spanish side despite temptations from Brighton and Porto.

The newspaper explains that Celta’s qualification for the Europa League could bring another gift, with the financial injection allowing the Galician club to stretch their sleeves a little further in the summer transfer window.

Moriba is one of the names on the table after spending last season on loan from RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window. Another move for him is now on track. An offer is on the table, and he’s convinced of the project in Vigo.

Porto and Brighton had previously attempted to tempt his entourage, but the player’s opinion is important. He has found Celta to be the ‘ideal environment’ for his development and getting back to performing at the highest level and wants to continue.

He and Celta have everything agreed and it is now a matter of finding an agreement with Rb Leipzig. The Germans want €6m but the Galicians would like to lower this. The purchase option in the loan expires on June 15th so there is a desire to get the deal done before then.

Either way, Brighton’s efforts have been turned away, with the player’s determination to remain where he is proving crucial.
