Report: Arsenal make contact to sign 'world-class' £325,000-a-week star, he wants London move

Arsenal have submitted an enquiry over Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane’s potential availability this summer, The Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath has revealed.

The Gunners are reportedly keeping close tabs on the Germany international’s situation as he continues to assess his options ahead of his contract expiry next month.

Sane is believed to have several opportunities available at present, including an option to extend his stay with the Bundesliga champions, though they are only eager to keep him if he agrees to a pay cut from his £325,000-a-week salary.

Arsenal are said to have asked about the conditions of a deal for the 29-year-old attacker, who would reportedly entertain a return to England this summer.

According to McGrath, Arsenal could look to sign a new wide forward this summer, as Raheem Sterling will return to Chelsea once his loan deal expires next month.

The Gunners have also been linked with La Liga superstars Rodrygo and Nico Williams in recent weeks, while a move for Sane would bring proven Premier League experience.

The ‘world-class’ Germany international previously spent four seasons with Manchester City and knows Mikel Arteta well from their time together at the Etihad Stadium, when the Spaniard was part of Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff.

Arsenal are now close to finalising a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi and are expected to turn their attention to frontline reinforcements next.

The North London club remain in the market for a new starting number nine, with both Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko still considered potential options.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Gyokeres is expected to make a decision over his future soon, with talks involving his agents set to take place this week.
