Tottenham Hotspur have learned that their pursuit of two attacking midfielders has just got a lot harder after Fabrizio Romano revealed a big development regarding Rayan Cherki and Morgan Gibbs-White.
Regular readers of Spurs Web will be aware that several reports over recent weeks have installed Tottenham as the favourites to land Rayan Cherki, who has just one year left on his contract at Lyon.
Cherki has confirmed that he will leave Lyon this summer, and according to various sources, the Spurs target has a €20m (£16.8m) release clause in his contract.
It has also been widely reported over the last couple of months that Tottenham are admirers of Morgan Gibbs-White, but the Lilywhites have received a blow in their pursuit of the Nottingham Forest and Lyon stars.

Tottenham have been linked with Morgan Gibbs-White and Rayan Cherki
Fabrizio Romano has now taken to social media to provide an update about their pair, which comes as bad news for Tottenham Hotspur.
The journalist revealed that both Cherki and Gibbs-White are on Manchester City’s radar ahead of the transfer window. He explained that those are the two names who are at the top of City’s wishlist for the number ten role.

In a subsequent post, Romano confirmed that Cherki is Man City’s leading target ahead of Gibbs-White, revealing that they have already begun talks over a deal for the Frenchman.

Spurs have held talks with Cherki over a summer move
It was reported around two weeks ago by GiveMeSport that Tottenham had held fresh conversations with Rayan Cherki regarding a switch to N17 after the winger decided that he would not be extending his contract with Lyon.
However, some outlets have stated that Spurs could face competition from a whole host of Premier League clubs for Cherki.
According to these updates, the France Under-21 international is extremely likely to end up in the English top flight this summer.
