Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap will sign for Chelsea 'in the next 24 hours' according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Delap joined the Blues for an initial £15m from Manchester City last summer and enjoyed an impressive 12-goal debut campaign for a Blues side that finished 19th.
Numerous clubs were keen to trigger his £30m relegation release clause, with Ipswich giving him permission to speak to leading suitors last week - including Manchester United and Everton.
It appears that the 22-year-old, who played a starring role in Town's 2-0 home win against Chelsea at the end of 2024, has decided to reunite with his former City youth team coach Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge though.
Romano reports that Manchester City will 'get 30% of the deal as they had a sell-on clause included in agreement with Ipswich Town'. That sell-on clause is likely to be based on profit made rather than overall fee.
Town chairman Mark Ashton insisted in March that Ipswich were 'very well protected' with regards to clauses in Delap's contract.
It's understood that Ipswich have enquired about the possibility of taking 19-year-old Spanish striker Marc Guiu on loan as part of the deal.
Chelsea recently finished fourth in the Premier League to qualify for next season's Champions League. A squad packed with young players on long-term contracts also won the Europa Conference League.
The West London club are due to participate in the new 32-team format Club World Cup, in the USA, from June 14.
