Liverpool And Arsenal Are Vying For £50M La Liga Ace Who Has Been Backed As Salah's Successor By Wataru Endo

**Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo is attracting interest from both Liverpool and Arsenal, according to reports in the Spanish media.**

The Japanese international has recently changed agents, having also rejected a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.

However, Kubo could be open to a switch to the Premier League, with _AS_ (via [_Sport Witness_](https://sportwitness.co.uk/liverpool-and-arsenal-make-contact-for-takefusa-kubo-agent-meeting-this-week-is-key/)) claiming both he and his new representatives will meet with Real Sociedad officials this week to decide his future.

There are no official bids on the table, but any team is free to trigger the 23-year-old’s €60m (£50m) release clause.

A Liverpool player has compared Kubo to Salah

---------------------------------------------

Speaking last year about Kubo’s abilities, Wataru Endo said his Japanese international teammate would be someone capable of succeeding Mo Salah:

“The search for a replacement for Mohamed Salah has begun, so this is becoming a real area for Liverpool to strengthen. I think the player who can replace him, in the national team, would be Kubo.”

Of course, with Salah having now signed a two-year contract extension, the need to bring in a player like Kubo has greatly diminished.

The club may still look to recruit a winger

-------------------------------------------

With Luis Diaz being linked with Barcelona as well as a move to the Middle East, and Cody Gakpo a target for Bayern Munich, the Reds may look to reinforce the left flank this summer.

As Kubo favours the opposite wing, it suggests that he won’t be top of the list of options that sporting director Richard Hughes is considering.

Brighton’s Joao Pedro, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers as well as Lyon’s Malick Fofana have been mentioned as possible targets, but any approach is likely to depend on what happens with both Diaz and Gakpo.
